Types of Shackles

Different Types of Shackles

Shackles for sale are generally made up of a shackle body and a pin, so different types of shackles differ in these two parts.

Chain Shackle

The chain shackle, also known as the D shackle or dee shackle, is shaped like a D and is suitable for straight line pulling and should not be used for side stretch loading, the centre line of the load should always be in line with the centre line of the chain shackle.

Anchor Shackles

Anchor shackles, also known as bow shackles, are, as the name implies, a bow shaped shackle with an almost circular shape. These Chinese shackles can be used to support side loading or for multi-legged slings.

What is the Use of Shackles?

Shackles can be used in a variety of industrial and commercial environments.

The primary function of lifting shackles is to provide a strong and durable connection between two or more items that can be opened or closed as required to allow or prevent disconnection. They provide a semi-permanent connection or anchor point and can be made from standard alloy steel or stainless steel.

They are often used in conjunction with other lifting equipment and accessories such as wire rope, synthetic slings and webbing, or are commonly used to attach lifting equipment or tow bars. In such cases, shackles can provide a reliable, safe and secure point of attachment between the sling or other lifting equipment and the payload.

How to Choose Shackles for Sale?

Steps of Choose Lifting Gear Shackles

1. Select the right slings by defining what kind of load you want to lift, its shape, size and weight.

2. Once you have selected the sling, you can start choosing types of shackles for lifting. if the load needs to be pulled in a straight line, a chain shackle works best, if it needs to be pulled in multiple directions, an anchor shackle is a better choice.

3. The materials and finish of the Chinese shackles are also a choice, commonly galvanized steel, powder coated and stainless steel. Of these, stainless steel is most suitable for marine applications and harsher use scenarios, as it has excellent corrosion and wears resistance.

Select According to Conditions

If you are using a shackles lifting equipment that needs to be easily attached and detached, then a screw pin is a good choice; if you are in an industry that requires long-term or permanent attachment, then a bolt-type pin is a better choice; if you are lifting a shackle, then a forged carbon steel shackle body and a pin made of alloy steel are a reliable choice. If you are lifting gear shackles, then forged carbon steel shackle bodies and alloy steel pins are a reliable choice.
